Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... (Author unknown)

Our lovely dog Púnktur left over this beautiful Rainbow bridge which appeared on the midday sky today. We lost him in an accident with a car yesterday. We are very sad about loosing this kind and high talented friend and family member. Júlíus got comforted a lot by listenig to the story of Rainbow bridge....

Merry Christmas

The preparations for Christmas are nearly done. The last few Christmas cards need to come to their final destinations and the hangikjöt (smoked lamb) need to be cooked for Christmas eve. Otherwise the days may come, also if the weather forcast tells us +7°Celsius and rain.
For those who have not recieved our Christmas card via e-mail due to spamfilters or wrong addresses can find them here beside.

We wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Winterjoy and Polarbear

Wintertime is time of joy, especially for children. Júlíus enjoys the snow very much and so does Púnktur. The days are getting very short now and the sun is not high enough anymore to look over the mountains. The snow lightens the rather dark days up.
Some of you might have heard about the two polar bears who came to Skagafjörður last June. As they were dangerous and no way in getting them back to Greenland they had to be put down. Poor things..... One of them has now come back to Skagafjörður and is to be seen in Sauðárkrókur. He is really impressive and huge. This male bear reached an age of 21 years.

The bookings for next years riding tours are developing very well and some dates are almost booked out. If you want to take part on one of our tours we advice to book soon.

We wish you all a nice pre-Christmas time!

Update and program 2009

First of all I want to appologize that I have not been updating the news for such a long time. It is not the fact that there is nothing to write about but the fact the the season kept us very busy until the end. And after the seasons end other works keep us busy. Anyway - I will try to do my best to keep these sites updated.

The season ended two weeks ago with a marvellous horse round up in Laufskálarétt near Hólar. We took part with 15 guest, all Swedish beside one ;-)
The season has been very good, every tour was well booked from the beginning of June until the end of September. No accidents happend and the weather was great during the whole time.
The horses have now gotten their shoes off and enjoy their free time (until May next year).
I have been hard working in putting up the new program for 2009. The dates and prices are already uploaded and I will link the missing detailed programs very soon.
We have something new in our program which we call "Ride and enjoy". This is an offer for people with a rented car who want to ride and do sightseeing or take part on other activities which are a lot here in Skagafjörður. We hope the new offer is interesting for many people such as couples, friends or families.

At last I want to invite you to have a look into our gallery to see some pictures from the past summer. There are also pictures from our family trip to the East of Iceland in September. We had a look at the new dam of Kárahnjúkar, where electricity is produced to feed the aluminium factory in Reyðarfjörður. This was quite impressing but not all in a positive way....Click here!

High season greetings

We are now in the middle of the high season. Many people find their way to our farm to take part on a 1-4 hour guided riding tour. Beside that the longer riding tours are running such as the highland adventure at the moment. These are very busy days and we are pleased to have eager and helpfull hands. In our summer team work beside us: Nikki, Jessica and the new girls Sophie and Anja.
The first hay has been made in very good and sunny weather and we will have high quality food for the horses and sheep in the winter.
There is not much time to update the homepage very often at the moment but you will hear from me from time to time.
The tours are very well booked and almost fully booked until the middle of August. Please contact us if you like to join a tour and ask for capacities.
