Breeding and sale - Mares
We have 12 mares which we use regulary for breeding. Some mares are used in change for both breeding and riding and from time to time we let a young mare have a foal before she is trained.

Perla frá Djúpadal
Born in 1982
Dame: Fenja frá Djúpadal (s: Sörli frá Sauðárkróki)
Sire: Glaumur frá Sauðárkróki (s: Hrafn frá Holtsmúla)
Black mare
Perla is one of the oldest stud mares. She was evaluated in 1988 and got a total score of 7,87 ( 8,01 for riding abilities).
Perla's sire Glaumur has been world champion twice (Racing pace with Jón Pétur Ólafson and "Five gait competition" with Carina Heller). Perla's offspring's are very willing horses with a strong fifth gait and lots of expression.
We own two promising young mares after Perla. Hátið (S: Kormákur frá Flugumýri) and Veiga (S: Adam frá Àsmundarstöðum).One of them is supposed to follow her mothers footstep and become one of our studmares.

Chestnut with two stars
Tvistjarna ist has never been ridden but proofed herself over the years as a good breeding mare. Her offspring's are very good horses for pleasure, competition and breeding. They are cooperative and friendly and have smooth gaites.

Drottning frá Lýtingsstöðum
Born in 1983
Dame: Hafdís frá Lýtingsstöðum (ds: Sörli frá Sauðárkrókur)

Golden brown with créme gen
Drottning is the most important mare in our stud.
She was evaluated in 1988 and got second price with a total score of 7,68. Drottning has given us 11 foals. Some of the mares have been evaluated and are used as breeding mares. Drottning's offspring's are willing five gaited horses with very good gaits and nice characters.
So far we use the mare Stute Kvika for breeding (score for riding ability 8,13) as well as the young stallion Jörfi. With these horses we will hold the "Drottning blood line" in our breed.

Þóta frá Lýtingsstöðum

Dark bay
Þóta has been used as a riding horse for some years before we decided to use her for breeding. She is a five gaited mare with lots of energy and extremly soft gaits. Her offspring's got her friendly character as well as the smooth gaits.

Vordís frá Lýtingsstöðum
Born in 1991

Black
Vordís is a beautiful mare with extremely long mane. She is four gaited with much power and good movements. Her offspring's get her long hair and her special expression. They are friendly and have four, sometimes five gaits.
Vordís means "goddess of spring" and we like to find names for her offspring's which are somehow connected with spring.
